The Stonetowne Quilters' Guild began in 1988. Under the guidance of Pauline Morrison, a group of ladies, some of whom were members of the Huron Perth Quilters' Guild, decided to start a guild in St. Marys Ontario to reach out to quilters in the immediate area. Pauline was elected the first President in 1989 and 32 members were signed up.

The meeting was initially held in members homes, then as the membership grew, the meetings were  moved to a church hall, then to the Friendship Centre and now we have our meeting in the End Zone room at the Pyramid Centre.

The program year currently runs from September to May, with a 3 month break over the summer. We host interesting speakers with a program and workshops planned for each meeting. Members are always encouraged to participate in the activities of the guild and to share the knowledge they have learned over the years.
We are a small guild in numbers with new to experienced quilters among our ranks. Since our numbers are small we all get to know each other better.

In 1994 the Stonetowne Guild and the Huron Perth Guild joined together to share the talent of our two guilds with quilters from everywhere else by creating the Piecemakers Quilt Show. Piecemakers is a 3 day event held every other year in April. These shows have been very successful and fun to do.

Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month starting at 9:30 am and running until around noon. The Program Committee arranges for speakers, small make-it-and-take-it sessions, trunk shows, vendor sales, updates on the latest quilting tools, demonstrations. Each meeting is a learning experience.

There is an extensive library for members to sign out books,  and everyone's favourite: "Show and Tell".

Membership for the year 2022/2023 is $45.00 New members are welcome!

Our Guild's mission statement:

To provide a supportive opportunity to learn about the designing, making, showing and caring of quilted crafts and related items, in a friendly environment.
